Practicing

I’m working on my marketing skills. I’ve practiced adding headers to my social media posts so that people will know what books I have available. I have a long way to go with this. When I first started publishing books, some 20 years ago, I learned that publishing and book design was a totally different domain from writing. I really enjoyed it, though and still do. A book whether paper version or e-version is a work of art and it’s very exciting and fulfilling creating the look of the book.

I would like to get back to writing soon but I’m working and haven’t had much time yet this week for anything else. Tonight, I had to stay late finishing up. But we all have to make living. The work I do at the hospital is important too and a privilege. The writing and publishing are more like play, exciting and uplifting, compared to the serious work of medicine and healing.

It’s good to even sit here and think about the trial of the defenders that I’m writing about in my novel. It was fun rewriting the upcoming book, Lincoln Uncovers the Real Story of How Preston Metzger Got Himself Kilt. You may wonder about the title. I feel like it fits the rustic style of the story and Lincoln’s early life. A time very different from our modern world. More on that later.
