Writing is Bliss

Only four chapters left in this book. Currently, still working on chapter 20, which is close to finished. I’m enjoying working on this book but will be glad to have it complete and know that I did accomplish it. Hoping to work on some marketing with Judy on Saturday. In the meantime, I hope to finish Ch 20 and to bring up a novella I wrote a couple of years ago. It was written and published as part of an online anthology: Murder They Wrote. Now, I intend to publish it as a standalone novella.

The holidays are a time when other parts of life naturally slow down. But me…I’m still doing yardwork. The weather is still good enough here that I can accomplish it, and I need too because the yard needs a lot of work. And, of course, I have to prepare for the holidays. I’m so excited about writing now, though that I’m hoping I can still maintain the same level of productivity. I would love to spend the winter writing and marketing.

One of the challenges of Chapter 20 is that it is a courtroom scene. I worried about the action, whether there would be enough of it. There is a lot of dialogue. The response I got yesterday has led me to believe it is close. I need to bring out Lincoln’s reaction to the unfolding drama a little and tighten up the testimony a bit. I have tried to stay fairly close to the actual testimony, but no one would want it to be exact. It needs condensing for entertainment’s sake.

The most important part about writing is to have fun, and I’m having fun. I think this will be a great book when it’s completed.
