Writing Again

I finished up my researching yesterday and started writing chapter 20. Got 4-5 pages in. I think the ending of the book will be really good now. I still worry about the pacing in the trial chapters and hope to run that by my group and get their feedback. I’m so happy to be writing and moving forward again. It’s my week off now. I have plans to get together with my best friend on Saturday and talk writing. Talk, live, breath, think writing.

Around the house, I still have yard work to do. I fell really far behind this year. The more I can get done now the better the spring will be. Hoping I can catch up on the yard next year. This novel should be done by then, though I will have started another one. I have a couple of ideas for the next book but am not completely committed to anything yet. The story of Elijah Lovejoy and the fact that I had never heard of him inspired me to write my current book. I felt more people should know who he was and this gave me a medium for contributing to that. I will move on to other books, but this one, and probably each one, will always be special to me.

This is the time of year where most people get slowed down on their work because of the holidays. I like the holidays as well as anyone, maybe more. I will taking down Halloween and putting up Christmas. I have to start early because I have a lot to put up and because I want to be able to sit and enjoy it awhile.

The book will have a total of 24 chapters, I believe. It could be when I rewrite that I break some of the early chapters into more than one. We’ll see. In the outlining process, I found some loose ends that need tying up, so I think I will be adding a few new scenes. I think it will come in around 100,000 words.
