I am one of many that has to work a day job and dream of being a fulltime writer. My day job is very fulfilling in many ways and when I no longer do it I know I will miss it. But it does keep me from writing as much as I’d like. So far this week is an example of that. Also, I’m having to get the garden closed out for the year. Life is full of fall activities and joy. Happiness whirls through the air.
Right now, I’ve left Lincoln and Speed in a difficult spot. They were mostly frustrated in their efforts in Alton, though they gathered a lot of information about what happened the night of the riot. They must now wait for the trial, uncertain who will be tried for what, or if there will even be a trial.
In the meantime, they are forced to return to their regular businesses, Lincoln to lawyering and Speed to the store. They are also concerned again with finding wives. Lincoln seems to ruin Speed’s best laid plans, but he has a few plans of his own that Speed is unaware of.
Speed’s a neat person. He puts up with a lot with Lincoln.
