Recovery

I know I’ve been away a long time. I’m recovering from back surgery. It went without complication, so I’m extremely happy about that and glad to return to my writing and my blog. I’m continuing to try to reach my goal of a scene a day. But I also have some other projects in the works.

As you may (or may not) recall, I have Edward Bryant’s literary rights. It’s been 6 years (I believe) since his death. His affairs and estate were rather in a mess at that time. He did not leave electronic copies of his work nor a complete bibliography. From his estate, I gathered a number of his own books and books he was featured in and have these written forms. I am working on purchasing more. I’m hoping to do a complete bibliography and biography, but first I want to start reprinting some of his work. I am typing in his stories, proofreading them and putting them together for a small chapbook that will hopefully be available on Amazon. The first book will be a learning experience in putting this sort of thing together. I hope you will check it out. More to come on this.

I am still continuing on my own work. I’m not going to have my novel completed and available as soon as I had hoped. I also want to put together one of my novellas which also features Lincoln as a detective and hopefully that will be available this fall. I’m currently writing chapter 14, about halfway through. Lincoln is in the city of Alton, Illinois, which he did visit in real life, and he’s asking questions about a recent murder to which 4 prominent citizens have confessed. Based on a true story, these events gripped me enough to make me want to write about them.

More later. It’s good to be back.
