A Friend

It’s been another week of Christmas with decorating, cooking, going to parties, and I feel way behind. I’ve probably been doing too much genealogy stuff. I just find it fascinating. This week I discovered a cache of photos on another website. I’ve been researching my ancestors from Wales. I am 1/8 Welsh and had no idea before this. It’s interesting looking at the Welsh names and even googling the homes where they lived. I wonder why they left Wales and came here. Were they glad they did or sorry? My grandmother knew some of them. I saw a picture of her in one of their arms. It’s family. There is a photo of the old homestead in Ohio and my great great grandparents in a buggy.

I went to the Scribes meeting, and it was fun, though I missed my friend who died a year ago. Writing without her has not been the same. I miss her house and her cooking. I miss leaning on her shoulder. She was such a good friend.

Another friend reached out to me the night before last. Out of nowhere this friend encouraged me to get back to my writing. And, I thought, no, not yet. I have too much cleaning and holiday stuff to do. But I’m slowly seeing the wisdom. I need to get back to it, if even for a few minutes each day. The days go by so quickly. I will try.

Happy holidays!
