I’m just beginning my 3 weeks break from work, which happens about 4 times a year. I always hope to get a lot done during these breaks. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes not. We’re having some beautiful fall weather. I drew out a map of the pond and included the changes I want to try to make. My skimmer box should be arriving today. I need to order the flexible pipe. I have decided on a design, so I’m all set to go.
The writer’s meeting was a success yesterday. The rewrite is going so quickly that I will have to find some volunteers among them to do line editing. I already have one person and am fairly confident of another. I’m hoping to get into a schedule where I write every day. Last night, over the phone, a friend talked me through making some corrections to my formatting. I occasionally struggle with computer issues. Just lack of knowledge.
While I’m going the rewrite I want to start working on the plot for the next book in the series. I have two Lincoln novel/novellas pretty much completed. I have ideas for history mysteries about other personages. The school of thought seems to be that readers want you to stick to writing the same characters. Lincoln and his cast were fun and eventually comfortable for me to write. I learned a great deal about writing this sort of thing by doing it and having it critiqued. But still, I have some others I would like to write about. There are actually so many things I want to write about that I know I need to pick up the pace a great deal.
And then I also need to maintain my house and lifestyle and enjoy my life. Fall is one of my favorite seasons. I plan to write, clean, and garden over the weekend. Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing time.
