I just lost a whole post I wrote. Easy come, easy go, I guess. But it wasn’t easy. I let the holidays take over my life. I’m still trying to get my decorations down, and I delivered the last gifts yesterday. My work week starts today, but I have sworn to work an hour a day after I get home to continue getting stuff put away. But my best intentions often don’t work out. I come home and I’m too tired or other stuff has come up. Last work week I had a lot of bad weather to tangle with and my garage door wasn’t working. It’s working now but we are under a winter advisory again. It makes walking into the hospital treacherous. I fear ice the most. I had 4 back surgeries after the last fall.
I have been working obsessively on genealogy. It’s another type of history and writing to me. I want to publish a copy of my work and give it to the local library. We have an excellent genealogy section here. I want to give copies to my grandsons to say, “Don’t forget.” It’s all part of what I consider my legacy. I post my work on WikiTree where my family and others can see it for free. particularly like posting photographs. Pictures bring it all to life.
This week I learned that I am related to a Swiss painter, Hans Asper 1499-1571. Yeah, it’s back a ways. It was fun to see his work online. It still exists. He wasn’t the biggest painter of his day, but he did alright for himself. Only like many other painters, he died in poverty. He must not have been good with money. Another family trait. I need to earn my pre-1500 certification to go further back in this direction. Several of my family lines could go back further if I got the certification.
I plan to get back to Lincoln as soon as I have the Christmas put away. It takes more concentration. I’m missing my cat, too. Joy is at the vet to get spayed. She has a big personality, and the house is not the same. Well, I have to get back to work. I hope you all are reading this.
Hope you finish up the holiday stuff soon. I put you down as a reader for Scribes on Feb. 14, so start thinking Lincoln thoughts:)
