I love this time of year. Summer is stretching into fall. I don’t want summer to end, but I’m excited for colorful fall leaves, fall festivals and decorations. I have one more summer event planned as I am hoping to make it down to the Indianapolis Zoo. I’m excited to see my family that lives there. Does this interfere with my writing. Of course, but it also rejuvenates me.
I still have plenty of summer things to do around the house and yard as well. Trees to trim, weeds to pull, iris to lift and plant, house to clean. But I’m still succeeding with my scene a day most days. Wrote one this morning. It works best if I write a scene as early in the day as possible, before I get distracted by other things. I’ll be reading chapter 14 tomorrow at the Scribes group and getting feedback.
I’m two scenes into Chapter 15 and Lincoln is talking to the potential murderers. The trial won’t take place for a couple of months yet. Legal processes were different then and you had to wait for the circuit court to come around and convene. However, no one has been arrested yet. They had no police force yet in this frontier town.
I’m also still working on the chapbook with Edward Bryant’s stories. I have a few technical obstacles to overcome. I’m going to update the cover a bit too. More on that later this week.
You’re close! Keep chugging away!
